50 Open source resources for writers

Posted by: David de Beer   in publishing, writing

Cathellisen found this list of 50 open source resources for writers.

She’ll be reviewing them as she takes a look at each one, giving the thumbs up or down. Currently, she’s reviewed Ywriter. I took a quick look myself, and it is a very neat program and looks like it could be very useful indeed, they way it breaks down writing a book into several, more easily manageable chunks and allows you a lot of options to plan, work with and edit.

It doesn’t appear to be able to do a couple of formatting things I’m used to, but the files save as rtf so I suppose they can be exported back to Word.

Ta for the link. I’m going to cycle through the various types of applications so it doesn’t get too boring.
