the Grandly Big PooBear Award. It’s the award to indicate the Bestest Award of them all. All the awards will be ranked each year and that way we can all always know which award is betterer than any given other award.
EDIT: am editing the previous version of this post; no sense in upsetting the wilfully obstinate and I don’t have much enthusiasm for picking fights that don’t really matter.
Internet off-time has been productive (am still off. kind of). Off time still translates into checking email, superpoking, mobwarsing, lil green patching. Mostly experimenting with tools to streamline my online. Including Twitter fiddling. Don’t ask, I’d just insist ”I never said that!”
Reports forthcoming. Icanhazscreenshots.
FINALLY, my actual reason for jumping briefly back out again:
Starting this month, at the end of every month, the current Nebula Awards Report will be posted live to the Nebula Website. Starting with the novels. Each category to follow, including at the end the current Preliminary Qualified works and finally an Open Pimp thread where I’m hoping anyone passing by will drop in and chat up any good book or story they’ve read recently, good movie they’ve seen, bestest Grandly Big PooBear Blog of them all.
The NAR numbers change from month to month, so if you’re interested you now have a chance to follow. Or if you’re not a member but curious about which works are currently nominated. Or, best of all, if you’re looking for something exciting to read and need a few interesting sounding names to check out.

Social Bookmarking: The Race to Be Famous or a Tool
some people use social bookmarking as a tool. Others use it to drive and pursue popularity.Great article on a disturbing trend.
Second Life Herald: Robot Closet Sex In Googles Lively Chatrooms
cybersex comes to Lively. Or, rather, the pervs have arrived. This is just wrong in so many ways. Good article, with screenshots.
Of Myth and Memory | The Nebula Awards
Sheila Finch blogs a personal exploration on the similarities in the prose of Ray Bradbury and Dylan Thomas. Beautiful post.
(or Norton in this case)
Sarah Beth Durst, interviewed by Jen West.
Sarah’s first book. Quite remarkable.
She’s also 22. I’m still depressed.
EDIT: Ms Durst clarifies — 1986 refers to a significant year, when she was the same age as her protagonist. I feel better now, depro party canceled (for now. I’m sure we’ll find another reason, keep the booze on ice).
Joe Haldeman
Joe Haldeman has been nominated for and received the Nebula, Hugo, Ditmar, World Fantasy, Galaxy, Rhysling and James Tipree Awards. The Accidental Time Machine is his 8th Nebula nomination.
Ellen Datlow introduces the Nebula Awards Showcase 2009.
It’s been a bit of a headache trying to find the right blog post to open the Nebula Blog with, but I think this is one is fitting.
Now we just need to work on some communication lapses but…brick by brick, my citizens, brick by brick..
